Data Fabric of Twinning Services for Industrial Biotechnology

Description:

The increasing adoption of digital twins, machine learning, and data-driven modelling approaches in industrial biotechnology creates a growing need for interoperable computational infrastructures capable of managing heterogeneous experimental data, orchestrating complex analytical workflows, and supporting reproducible execution of advanced modelling services. This workshop presents the “Data Fabric of Twinning Services for Industrial Biotechnology”, an integrated computational environment designed to facilitate seamless interaction between bioprocess data infrastructures and containerized modelling workflows.

The workshop will demonstrate how FAIR-aligned data management, metadata harmonization, containerized software execution, and workflow orchestration technologies can be combined into a unified digital ecosystem supporting industrial biotechnology applications. Particular emphasis will be placed on the integration of experimental fermentation data, mechanistic and machine learning models, automated workflow execution, and scalable analytical pipelines operating on distributed scientific infrastructures.

Participants will be introduced to the architectural principles underlying the data fabric, including standardized data representations, metadata-driven interoperability, container-based execution environments, and orchestration mechanisms for scientific workflows and streaming analytical services. The workshop will additionally showcase how digital twinning services can directly interact with persistent scientific repositories and real-time process data infrastructures in order to support advanced modelling and decision-making workflows, such as:

  • Optimization of kinetic parameters using hybrid models
  • Closed-Loop Generative Strain Design
  • Process control
